Senior Controls Engineer

Description

As a Senior Controls Engineer at TTG’s Automation Division (formerly known as Alpha Integration), you will be designing and programming all requirements of assigned projects to maintain project schedules, design standards, customer specifications, quote requirements, software standards, and documentation. This candidate must be able to maintain project schedules and budgets. This individual must also comply with company design standards and customer specifications. The ideal candidate for this role will be an involved team member, seeking constant growth and have an enthusiasm for challenges in this ever-changing industry.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Generate electrical schematics and BOM’s in compliance with established company standards and applicable regulatory codes.
  • Create and document control system software programs using structured programming techniques, for PLC’s, HMI’s, PC’s, and Robot’s as necessary.
  • Develop approved drawing, programming, and design standards for the department.
  • Teach technical training classes as needed to increase technical knowledge and skills of the entire department.
  • Responsible for reviewing assigned project schedule and providing the necessary effortwork hours to ensure all targets can be made or making a detailed request for assistance to Controls Engineering Manager immediately when it is determined targets cannot be made with your individual effort.
  • Test and debug machines and systems at our facility.
  • Support installation, test, and debug machines and systems at customers’ facilities.
  • Understand and follow proper wiring methods.
  • Responsible for updating all drawings after a job is complete.
  • Responsible for writing portions of the machine operation manual, specifically, the Controls and Operation sections.
  • Communication with customers, vendors and co-workers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Supports Sales by reviewing customer control systems specifications and design premises to ensure compliance. Recommend exceptions and estimate cost for deviation using previous experience.
  • Participate in design and review meetings for assigned projects.
  • Provide support for any control system issue or concern with customers.
  • Travel for machine installation as required.
  • Travel as required for Sales calls or meetings.
  • Assist the Applications department with quotations including pricing, write-up, concept drawings, and schedule when requested.
  • Be a leader for the newer Controls Engineers to help them better their skills in design and programming.
